Usually I run around town with my green drink in tow and I encounter a lot of strange stares and a lot of questions. When I explain how yummy the drink is and how good it is for you I get asked for recipes all the time.
My latest and greatest recipe is the Frozen Green Berry Mohito made with fresh mint from my garden.. Anyone can grow mint because it basically takes care of itself when planted and grows like crazy. Buy a mint plant from your local nursery or even local supermarket.
Green Berry Mohito
**This recipe can be used with or without alcohol**
2 cups of fresh spinach
2 sweet red apples (any variety available)
1 tsp honey (optional)
2 cups water
3/4 cup frozen strawberries
3/4 cup frozen red rasberries
a handful of fresh mint
2 tsp of raw maca powder (optional)

October 25, 2011 Getting rid of toxins with a little help from twisting poses and delicious green drinks infused with Kale
It is almost November with the last glimmer of Indian Summer almost behind us. I am already feeling sluggish and tired from the change in season and all that it brings with it.. Dark mornings and early sunsets came by way too soon. Through the years I have found comfort in my yoga practice during these transitional seasonal changes. My teachers have been incorporating many twisting and standing poses into our practice. Nothing feels better than getting an internal massage created from the body twisting releasing stress and toxins.
With the help of my Health Master super blender I have created a yummy green goddess Kale drink full of delicious fruits.. Trust me it is addicting in a good way..
Green Goddess Kale Smoothie:
2 cups of fresh Kale
1 large apple ( any sweet apple will do)
a handful of beautiful red strawberries
1 gorgeous yellow lemon (take the skin off but leave a little of the rind it really sparks a great lemon flavor while drinking)
about 1 1/2 of water in the blender and then add everything in WITH THE SKIN ON! You get tons of added fiber from the skins of these fruits.
Blend everything together on high, shake well and serve cold. Enjoy.. you will crave it , the smoothie is so yummy and it is so good for you..

The lord Shiva is well known as his role The King Dancer or in Sanskrit Nataraja. in his hands he holds a drum and each beat signifies the death and rebirth of another age. Shiva dances to his own music within a circle of flame called samsara. samsara is the cyclical pattern in the constant repetition of birth, life and death. while this familiar repetition can be comforting some people feel that it is inhibiting as well.
In order to dance like Shiva we must be free of inhibitions. Freedom is being able to stray off the weathered well known path and venture onto the unchartered waters and embracing the unknown. in this story Shiva creates the room for us to make positive abundant choices and allows us to let go of fear.

When you open your heart in a backbend or any other pose you are releasing the fear held in your heart and you are opening up yourself to all the lovely possibilities that come with an beautiful open heart. if we can find the graceful rhythm that comes from balance we will eventuallybe liberated in our bodies and in our minds.
Standing poses require abdominal strength as well as really being present in your practice.. Many people new to yoga have a fear of standing poses .
Truth be told depending on my mood or level of balance even after 6 years I can still wobble and fall out of my pose. The important thing is to fall down gracefully and get right back up.. This is true of everyday challenges in life. How many times have you attempted a task and shy away from completing something due to just enough fear in your head? I think it happens to everyone from time to time.
In a standing pose if you fall over what will happen? Since yoga practice is a personal exploration of one’s self no one is looking at you at all! The best part of being immersed in a yoga practice is that the time on the mat is yours and yours alone.
Standing poses tone and activate the torso, back, pelvis and abdominal organs, messaging the organs located there and increasing blood flow. Standing poses also invigorate the adrenal glands which produce hormones that help us tolerate many of the stresses of life. Both Extended Triangle Pose and Intense Side Stretch Pose also help in relieving menstrual disorders.
The benefits of standing poses are plentiful.

Marina started her professional career as an executive in the garment industry where she worked for many years. What initially started as a way to release some stress grew quickly into a regular gym routine and finally a strong passion.
She began to work out several times a week with a personal trainer and found that the benefits both physically and emotionally were beyond her expectations. At her physical peak, she decided she would help transform the lives of others the way fitness had transformed hers.
She started training clients independently in her JD Fitness. Her philosophy has and always will be that nothing is impossible with the right mind-set, guidance, and technique. helping them attain their fitness goals. As the buzz of her results spread, she started to take on many high profile clients in their homes, before joining the other trainers at
Marina strives to create personalized routines that target the goals of each individual client whether it be endurance, strength, weight loss, flexibility or just a little encouragement to get them started.
