Are you a warrior? I think we all are warriors in one way or another. This pose allows you to plant your feet firmly one the ground with all corners pressing firmly to not only help you balance the pose but to help balance your life. Virabhadrasana II is the name of a warrior who is an incarnation of Shiva.
The benefits of Warrior II : strenthens the shoulders, arms, thighs, legs and ankles.
expands the chest, lungs and shoulders
stimulates digestion and abdominal organs
relieves backaches, especially through second trimester of pregnancy
improves balance, concentration and core awareness.
By tucking and tilting your pelvis while in this pose you are engaging your thighs and lifting out of your torso thus elongating the upper body and allowing the breath to create room in the spine. It feels great and is so wonderful for you. With every breath you are becoming stronger and more grounded and balanced.
Balance is everything in life. We are all constantly juggling our daily routines and that of our families. By planting your feet firmly on the ground in Warrior Pose or in any other you are giving yourself the opportunity to fully concentrate, engage your mind, body and soul and allow yourself to receive nourishment from the pose and bring it into your day.
Be nourished.. Be balanced. Be engaged. Be grounded. Be yoga.
